Nintendo makes quite a few cool peripherals for the Nintendo Switch, including custom Splatoon 2 JoyCon and Pro Controllers, amongst other neat little goodies it’s done in the past. However, PowerA has managed to convince the publisher to let it try its hand with new Switch peripherals that feature some of its biggest franchises.
PowerA has announced that it will be releasing a pair of officially licensed wired Nintendo Switch controllers this October, featuring The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario. The timing couldn’t be better, as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is still a pretty hot property right now, and Super Mario Odyssey is set to drop in late October.
The Zelda inspired controller is black with a gold D-pad, and pictures of both the Legend of Zelda emblem and a picture of Link, bow drawn, from Breath of the Wild, in the corner. It has a neat looking black and white design all over the controller that really stands out, as you can see in the attached gallery.
As for the Mario controller, it’s black and red, featuring a solid design of various Mario power-ups faded in to the controller, including familiar star, fire flower and question block emblems. No doubt Mario fans will be all over this one.
In addition to comfortable build and nice quality, the controllers will also feature a removable 10-foot USB cable, rubber grips and interchangeable analog caps, just like actual customized controllers.
The controllers will cost $30, but the cheap price will set you back in terms of features, as neither one will feature HD Rumble support, and also won’t have gyro controls or any sort of NFC reader for Amiibo support. Still, if you’re just looking for a controller that gives you quick arcade action, you can’t go wrong here.
